Lone Star Legal Aid (LSLA) seeks one Giving Research Manager (HOU JP# 025-2026) for its Houston Branch Office.
LSLA is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit law firm and its mission is to protect and advance the civil rights of low-income Texans by providing advocacy, legal representation, and community education that ensure equal access to justice.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Giving Research Manager plays a critical role in advancing Lone Star Legal Aid’s giving efforts through strategic prospect research, data analytics, and technology integration. The successful applicant will identify, analyze, and prioritize donor prospects; develop data-informed strategies to grow philanthropic support; and ensure the integrity and effective use of the organization’s donor database.
The applicant utilizes CRM systems, wealth screening tools, and emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, to analyze donor behavior, identify trends, and support fundraising strategy. The position works closely with fundraising leadership, staff, and volunteers to strengthen major gift development, campaign execution, and donor engagement.
The applicant develops reports, dashboards, and data visualizations to communicate fundraising performance, track progress toward goals, and support decision-making. The applicant translates complex data into clear, actionable insights and contributes to the development of cases for support and donor strategies.
The successful applicant collaborates with the marketing team to support digital fundraising efforts and content development. This includes creating data-driven materials such as impact reports, stewardship pieces, presentations, and other donor-facing communications. The applicant may utilize tools such as Canva to design visually compelling materials that reflect organizational impact and strengthen fundraising messaging.
The applicant ensures the accuracy, integrity, and security of all donor data, maintains compliance with ethical fundraising standards, and supports the continuous improvement of fundraising systems and processes. The position also evaluates and implements new tools and technologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness across fundraising operations.
REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, nonprofit management, data analytics, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience in fundraising, prospect research, data analysis, or nonprofit technology.
MINIMUM SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate findings into actionable strategies.
• Experience with fundraising CRM systems (e.g., Bloomerang, DonorPerfect, Raiser’s Edge) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of prospect research methodologies, donor stewardship practices, and ethical fundraising standards.
• Ability to utilize or learn artificial intelligence tools and data visualization platforms to enhance fundraising efforts.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present data and insights clearly to diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in a team environment.
