Job Description
Standard Job Description
Designs, develops, implements, verifies and tests algorithms to perform guidance, navigation and control of aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicles and upper stages during powered and coast phases of flight, earth orbit, interplanetary cruise and orbital insertion, as well as during staging events. Navigation functions include the statistical processing of measured data points and their substitution into algorithms simulating physical reality. Guidance functions include the formulation of specific equations and control laws to achieve a desired position in space. Control design and analyses processes consist of the development of the control requirements for aircraft, launch vehicles and/or spacecraft.
As a GNC Analyst on the FBM program, you will play a pivotal role in defining and implementing the guidance, navigation, and control architecture for one of the nation’s most critical and complex missile systems. In this role, you will contribute to the design, analysis, and testing of guidance, navigation, and control systems that enable a missile to operate in complex environments. You’ll collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop robust, flight-proven GN&C solutions and ensure mission success through rigorous simulation and validation.
What You Will Be Doing:
• Perform missile controls design, analysis, modeling, simulation, and testing activities.
• Collaborate with the software team to develop flight-worthy code based on GNC algorithm prototypes
• Support ground and flight test efforts including Hardware-In-The-Loop (HWIL) activities
• Use your excellent communication skills to work across the Lockheed Martin organization and customer/user community to ensure consensus and understanding of GNC performance

- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or similar STEM degree.
- General understanding of vehicle dynamics including aerodynamics, flexible body dynamics and equation of motion derivation
- General understanding of guidance, navigation and control algorithms including fundamental control theory and flight autopilot algorithm development
- Familiarity in SW development environments like Git using programming languages such as MATLAB, C++.
- Demonstrated ability as a team player to build consensus among peers and build effective relationships with team members.
- Demonstrated communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical issues to peers, management, subcontractors and customers.
Desired Skills
- Related Program or Project experience
- Experience with 6-Degree of Freedom (6DOF) simulations and physics-based modeling
- Demonstrated experience with analysis of feedback control systems.
- Experience developing robust GNC algorithm
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment
