Job Description
Summary: Lila Sciences is seeking an Automation Engineer 1 to join their Integrated Automation Engineering Team, focusing on the development and enhancement of automated workcells. The role involves troubleshooting, identifying operational challenges, and contributing to innovative solutions in life science laboratories and beyond.
Responsibilities:
- Identify, categorize, and resolve issues related to automated Workcells
- Troubleshoot software and electro-mechanical systems effectively, learning new technologies swiftly and documenting the processes for team knowledge sharing
- Proactively identify potential failure points and lead initiatives to mitigate them
- Develop automated processes or tools to help achieve Lila's goals
- Collaborate on significant projects to gain practical experience and make a tangible impact, including projects focused on proactive issue identification, preventive maintenance, and AI integration into troubleshooting operations
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Material Science, or related fields
- 1 year of industry automation experience, preferably in R&D lab automation
- Experience with an integrated scheduler such as Overlord, Cellario, and Green Button Go
- Demonstrates curiosity and a strong hands-on approach to learning and problem-solving
- Ability to rapidly learn and master a diverse array of technical subjects
- Ability to work with cross functional teams of engineers to deliver innovative automation solutions in diverse scientific disciplines
- Working knowledge of software principles
- Demonstrated proficiency in mechanical and technical tasks, with hands-on experience with physical equipment and components
- Strong problem-solving abilities and effective collaboration and communication skills
- Adaptable and receptive to feedback, fostering growth and development in a dynamic work environment
- Contributes positively to team dynamics, encouraging and enhancing the performance of peers
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications in automation or industrial engineering are advantageous
- Experience with predictive modeling and statistical analysis for issue identification
- Familiarity with AI-based systems and integration into operational processes
- Previous exposure to database design and flowchart development
