Job Description
Summary: LexisNexis is a global provider of information-based analytics and decision tools for professional and business customers. They are seeking a Software Engineer II to perform moderate research, design, and software development assignments within a specific software functional area or product line.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to and review detailed specifications for moderately complex system components
- Implement and resolve simple bug fixes
- Collaborate with development team members to understand product requirements and translate them into effective software designs
- Work within various development environments (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) and engage with key stakeholders
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as needed
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- 1+ years of Software Engineering experience
- BS Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience required
- Proficiency in data manipulation languages (e.g., SQL)
- Experience working with simple data models and data storage subsystems
- Strong programming skills in one or more of the following: Java/J2EE, JavaScript, JSP, C/C++, HTML, XML, .NET, Windows, and UNIX environments
- Familiarity with industry best practices, including code coverage and test-driven development
- Ability to create automated tests using test frameworks
- Understanding of software development methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall
- Willingness and ability to quickly learn new technologies and processes
- Effective oral and written communication skills
