Job Description
Summary: Elsevier Inc. is a global leader in information and analytics, and they are seeking a Simulation Software Engineering Intern to join their team. This internship offers hands-on experience in developing interactive web-based simulations for nursing and healthcare education, contributing to real products while learning in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development and improvement of interactive software simulations
- Work with a cross-functional team to understand product goals and user needs
- Write, test, and improve code under the guidance of experienced engineers
- Participate in team planning, reviews, and continuous improvement activities
- Learn and apply software engineering best practices and team workflows
- Help identify and solve technical issues in a clear, thoughtful way
- Document work to support shared understanding and future development
Required Qualifications:
- Be currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information technology, software engineering, or a related field of study with a graduation date of May 2027
- Demonstrate basic understanding of programming and software development concepts, including data structures and algorithm development
- Familiarity with object-oriented programming principles
- Display an interest in learning tools such as game engines or simulation platforms, such as Unity 3D Game Engine
- Possess experience with or willingness to learn source control systems such as Plastic, SCM, and Git
- Possess effective written and verbal communication skills to document findings and share ideas clearly
- Be able to work well both independently and as part of a team
- Be self-driven and open to receiving and applying constructive feedback
