Job Description
Summary: Leidos is a forward-thinking company focused on innovation and technology, and they are seeking an entry-level AI and Automation Software Engineer. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining automation solutions that integrate RPA and AI/ML tools to enhance business processes.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, test, and deploy RPA bots and automation workflows using industry-standard RPA platforms
- Implement backend and integration code to connect automation workflows with enterprise systems (APIs, databases, web services)
- Assist in integrating AI/ML components (NLP, computer vision, classifiers, or LLM-based components) into automation solutions using our Moveworks AI Assistant development studio
- Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to translate process requirements into technical specifications
- Write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code; follow version control and CI/CD practices
- Participate in unit, integration, and end-to-end testing of automation solutions; troubleshoot and resolve defects
- Monitor, maintain, and optimize live enterprise assistants, bots, and AI services; log and report issues and performance metrics
- Support development of runbooks, technical documentation, and knowledge transfer materials
- Follow security, compliance, and data privacy guidelines when handling sensitive data in automation and AI workflows
- Stay current with RPA and AI tooling, frameworks, and best practices; suggest improvements to automation strategies
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline and 0+ years of experience
- Familiarity with at least one programming language commonly used in automation (Python, Java, C#, or JavaScript)
- Basic experience with RPA platforms (e.g., UiPath, Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism) via coursework, certification, or internships
- Understanding of RESTful APIs, JSON/XML, and working with databases (SQL)
- Exposure to AI/ML concepts (supervised learning, NLP, embeddings, model inference) and at least one ML framework or library (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face)
- Knowledge of software development fundamentals: version control (Git), debugging, and basic CI/CD concepts
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a team environment
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- US citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Entry-level RPA certification (UiPath RPA Developer Foundation, Automation Anywhere Certified RPA Associate, etc.)
- Practical experience integrating LLMs or conversational AI (Moveworks, OpenAI, Anthropic, Hugging Face models) into applications
- Experience with orchestration or workflow tools (Airflow, Kubernetes, or platform-specific orchestration)
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and services (AWS, Azure, or GCP), especially managed AI services
- Knowledge of secure coding practices and data protection regulations (GDPR, HIPAA where applicable)
- Experience with automation monitoring, logging, and observability tools
- Internship or project experience delivering end-to-end automation solutions in a business environment
- Aptitude for learning new AI/automation tools quickly and documenting technical decisions
