Bindery Worker 1 at lds.org in Salt Lake City, UT

Schedule: This position works a four-day, 10-hour schedule (4/10s), Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., in the Scripture Bindery.

Purpose: This position helps make gospel teachings, resources, or services accessible to all in a simple and affordable way, supporting the mission of the Church.

A physically demanding entry level position which participates in the operations of bindery machinery. Feeds printed material into machinery, pulls finished product off machine, boxes product, quality checks product, bands, shrink wraps, drills holes, etc. as required.

Responsibilities

90% - Participates as a team member in the operation of bindery and finishing equipment by feeding printed material and associated components into machines, assisting with operations such as hand collating, gathering, bundling, drilling, stitching (stapling), boxing, etc., under the direction of lead operators (bindery journeyman), supervisors and group managers.

10% - Other duties as needed and as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to safely push, pull, and move materials using pallet jacks and carts.
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and occasionally move heavier materials with mechanical assistance.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks requiring manual dexterity in a fast-paced production environment.
• Ability to frequently bend, squat, stretch, reach, and climb stairs.
• Ability to learn and rotate among multiple job assignments and equipment operations.
• Attention to detail.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Basic math skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to speak, read, and understand English.
• Ability to work respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Basic computer skills. Ability to use computer based production tracking, time tracking, payroll, and communications programs; must have an active LDS Account.
