Software Developer Intern at LAIKA Studios in Hillsboro, OR

Summary: Laika is seeking a Software Developer Intern to gain valuable hands-on experience in the Core Technology department. The intern will collaborate with skilled professionals to learn about the systems and tools used to build and deploy custom applications in a dynamic feature film production environment. Responsibilities: - Work with software engineers and technical directors on a variety of projects including unit test development, code base refactoring, configuration and dependency management, and application development - Code in a variety of languages while adhering to best practices pertaining to use of style guides, code reviews, testing, and documentation - Participate in all aspects of the software development cycle including requirements gathering, software design, prototyping, development, testing, and deployment - Complete independent projects including research and integration of new 3rd party tools Required Qualifications: - Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior in college/university, or graduated within the last 12 months, with a focus in Computer Science, Engineering, or other relevant areas of study; recent Computer Science or Engineering-related certificates from non-degree programs also accepted - Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, C++, Node.js, etc.) - Strong knowledge of data structures - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Experience with 3D graphics, rendering, visual effects, and video encoding Required Skills: Programming languages, Data structures Important Skills: 3D graphics, Visual effects Nice-to-Have Skills: Communication skills
