We are expanding our North American service footprint and seeking a highly capable, self-motivated Field Service Engineer (FSE). This role is 100% remote when not traveling, allowing you to manage your home office from anywhere in the region while supporting cutting-edge manufacturing environments.

POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Field Service Engineer, you will serve as the primary face of Kurtz Ersa technical expertise on-site at customer facilities. You will bridge high-level electro-mechanical engineering with consultative customer support—handling everything from installing advanced automated rework stations to training process engineers on thermal profiling software. When not traveling, you will provide critical remote technical support from your home office.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Installation & Commissioning: Execute and supervise the mechanical setup, electrical connection, and software configuration of automated and guided rework systems (e.g., HR 550, HR 600 series).
• Process & Thermal Training: Train customer engineers and operators on advanced thermal profiling concepts, optical component alignment, and the Windows based operating software.
• Advanced Diagnostics & Repair: Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electronic assembles, software, pneumatic, and thermal calibration while on-site and remotely.
• Preventative Maintenance & Calibration: Perform scheduled system optimizations and precision calibrations to ensure compliance with strict aerospace, defense, and automotive standards.
• Remote Technical Support: Act as a tier-2 remote support resource for customers via phone, email, and digital diagnostics during non-travel periods.
• Documentation: Generate detailed field service reports, track customer cases within our CRM, and feedback technical product insights to our global engineering teams.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR (QUALIFICATIONS)

• Education: Associate degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Technology, or a related technical discipline (equivalent military training or extensive hands-on SMT field experience will be highly considered).
• Industry Experience: Direct experience in the Surface Mount Technology (SMT) or electronics manufacturing sector is highly preferred. Familiarity with PCB assembly, manual soldering, or automated rework machinery is a major plus.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and pneumatic schematics. Proficient with industrial PC architecture and Windows-based software deployment.
• Travel & Remote Independence: Proven ability to operate autonomously out of a home office and manage a heavy travel schedule (up to 70%). Must hold a valid driver’s license and passport (or ability to obtain one) for regional international travel.
• Communication & Composure: High emotional intelligence. You must be able to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to operators and remain calm and professional in fast-paced, high-pressure manufacturing environments.
• Language Skills (Preferred): Professional proficiency in Spanish is highly advantageous due to frequent travel and support requirements for our customer base in Mexico.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
