Summary: Kroger is offering a Summer Internship Program that provides students with an immersive experience to grow their careers through focused assignments. The role involves utilizing industrial engineering methodologies to enhance processes and improve customer experience while collaborating with key stakeholders. Responsibilities: - Utilize industrial engineering (IE) technologies and methodologies to evaluate current processes, equipment and systems to determine areas of improvement that will enhance the customer shopping experience, product quality and freshness while eliminating inefficiencies - Provide leadership and collaborate with key stake holders and business partners to design, develop, test and deploy innovative, cost effective and efficient processes - Demonstrate the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety - Lead and participate in the identification, prioritization, implementation, and control of labor standards from existing program to new software - Identify innovative approaches for cost reduction and process improvement initiatives using lean processes - Identify innovative approaches to company-wide store issues that create opportunities for breakthrough process improvements that positively impact the customer shopping experience, safety, product freshness and food safety - Provide statistical analysis reports evaluating the efficiency of current processes, procedures, equipment and associates - Establish work measurement programs and collect and analyze data; develop and maintain key performance indicators and metrics - Develop and implement direct labor standards for costing, staffing, and evaluating performance - Provide crucial maintenance support to the labor standards program - Work closely with engineering and labor teams to identify improvement opportunities, analyze store operation data - Travel to retail locations and offices to observe active best practices matching labor engineered standards - Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation Required Qualifications: - Industrial Engineering or closely related field, must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited college or university with a preferred GPA of 3.0 - Strong mathematical and analytical skills - Ability to work well within project teams Preferred Qualifications: - Have completed coursework in operations research, work analysis, human factors - Ability to effectively communicate and influence all levels of the organization - Effective planning, decision-making, problem-solving, and organizing skills - Able to utilize all work measurement tools available (i.e. MTM, MOST, Time Study, Analysis) - Proficient in Microsoft Office Required Skills: Industrial Engineering, Mathematical skills, Analytical skills Important Skills: Operations research, Work analysis, Human factors, Work measurement tools, Microsoft Office Nice-to-Have Skills: Organizing skills, Planning skills, Decision-making skills Internship Start Date: Start in 2026 Summer Benefits: Competitive pay, Hands-on learning experiences, Company exposure to senior leaders, Professional development opportunities
