SCHOLARSHIP MANAGER
Scholarship Manager
Job Summary
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Scholarship Manager oversees the development, administration, and continuous improvement of the Foundation's scholarship program. This position ensures the integrity, efficiency, and accessibility of scholarship operations by managing policies, procedures, records, reporting, and compliance. Serving as the primary resource for students, families, the Board of Directors, committees, and Foundation staff, the Scholarship Manager builds trusted relationships, provides exceptional service, and helps applicants successfully navigate the scholarship process while advancing the Foundation's mission and commitment to educational opportunity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Manage scholarship records and award information within the scholarship database, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and timely processing.
• Coordinate scholarship application, selection, award, and payment processes.
• Support the Scholarship Committee by coordinating meetings, preparing agendas and minutes, and providing administrative and technical assistance.
• Assist with financial reconciliation of scholarship funds by preparing payment requests, generating reports, and maintaining records for audits and compliance reviews.
• Develop, maintain, and communicate scholarship policies, procedures, and operational documentation; train Foundation staff on scholarship processes and database use.
• Maintain current information on institutional, state, federal, and private scholarship opportunities and promote them through appropriate communication channels.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for students, families, members of the Board of Directors, committees, and Foundation staff regarding scholarship programs, policies, and procedures.
• Deliver presentations and outreach activities to promote scholarship opportunities and educate applicants, the Board of Directors, and the greater Koniag community.
• Build relationships with educational institutions and scholarship organizations to share information and strengthen partnerships.
• Evaluate and improve scholarship workflows using current best practices to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
• Provide guidance to Foundation staff and supervisors on scholarship-related questions and student situations.
• Handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
• Participate in Board of Directors and committee meetings as requested.
• Support Foundation initiatives and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as a collaborative team member.
• Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365, including advanced Excel skills, Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and virtual meeting platforms.
• Ability to perform mail merges using Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Keyboarding proficiency of at least 60 words per minute.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing demands, and consistently meet deadlines.
• Dependable, professional, and committed to maintaining confidentiality.
• Demonstrates a student-centered, service-oriented approach by providing timely, compassionate, and accurate guidance that helps applicants and families successfully navigate the scholarship process.
• Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
Preferred Qualifications
• Associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Experience administering scholarship or financial aid programs.
• Knowledge of scholarship management principles, best practices, and compliance requirements.
• Familiarity with Alaska Native organizations, cultures, and governance structures.
• Experience using scholarship management software.
