Job Description
Summary: Kohl's is a leading retail company seeking an Assistant Designer to support Design leaders in creating product assortments that resonate with brand positioning and target customers. In this role, you will build and maintain design packages, assist in meeting preparations, and gather market research to inform design decisions.
Responsibilities:
- Build, create and maintain tech packs, trim sheets and design packages
- Ensure accurate data entry into Product Lifecycle Management
- Assist in meeting preparation and breakdown, including room setup, samples, reports and creating boards and line sheets
- Gather and analyze market and trend research
- Ensure understanding of the supported brand, foster innovation and remain updated on the competition
- Complete pre-packages as a part of the research and development process
- Additional tasks may be assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Familiarity and moderate proficiency with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Ned Graphics, Kaledo or related program
- Ability to perform the accountabilities listed in the 'What You'll Do' Section
- Ability to comply with dress code requirements
- Basic math and reading skills, legible handwriting, and basic computer operation
- Ability to maintain prompt and regular attendance and meet scheduling requirements as set by the company
- Ability to learn and comply with all company policies, procedures, standards and guidelines
- Ability to give direction and to receive, understand and proactively respond to direction from leadership and other company personnel
- Ability to work as part of a team and interact effectively and appropriately with others
- Ability to maintain composure and work in a fast paced environment while accomplishing multiple tasks within established timeframes
- Ability to satisfactorily complete company training programs
- Ability to use a personal computer for tasks such as communicating, preparing reports, etc
- Ability to plan, prioritize and monitor activities across business units
- Ability to complete or oversee the completion of assigned projects in a timely manner
- Perform work in accordance with the Physical/Cognitive Requirements section
- Ability to discern color
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Design or related field
- Previous retail experience
- Previous experience in design or product accessory business and the competitive landscape
- Domestic travel may be required
