Job Description
Summary: Knobelsdorff is a leading turnkey specialty contractor specializing in Automation, Electric, Energy, and Power Services. As an Electrical Designer I, you will work closely with Estimators, Pre-Construction Team, Drafters, and Project Managers throughout the design phase, ensuring that designs are ready for handoff to the Operations team.
Responsibilities:
- Assist design leads in customer/client design reviews
- Complete conceptual engineering and design performing the following:
- Sizing conduit/cable to serve electrical equipment such as MCC’s, Switchboards, Panelboards, and Transformers
- Verify vendor quotes and provide submittal packages
- Comprehend MCC BOM’s and quotes to ensure that sizing, layouts, and controller types are accurate
- Comprehend Switchgear BOM’s and quotes to ensure that sizing, layouts, and over current protection types are correct
- Size conduits and cables to serve:
- Motors, Controls and Instrumentation devices
- General power and lighting branch circuiting
- Low and Medium Voltage Distribution systems such as
- Act as a bridge from estimating to operations or concept to reality
- Periodic travel to customer sites as needed
Required Qualifications:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, word, Excel, Teams)
- Experience with BlueBeam and Excel
- Knowledge of electrical construction practices or industrial electrical work. Commercial is fine but industrial is preferred
- Knowledge of the National Electric Code - NEC
- Manage project files, drawings, documents & records in our project system
- Journeyman Electricians License, a degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related, or equivalent combination of field experience/education
- Size conduits and cables to serve electrical equipment such as MCC's, Switchboards, Panelboards, and Transformers

Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of motor control devices such as VFD's, Soft Starts, Networked MCC's, and traditional across the line starters – beneficial
- Experience with Special systems such as Network cabling, Instrumentation, Fire Alarm, Door access/Security systems
