Job Description
Summary: Kier & Wright has been providing engineering and surveying services since 1972, focusing on land development projects. The Project Engineer will support project teams by preparing technical engineering plans and collaborating with technicians while gaining experience in various engineering tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Carries out tasks assigned by the Project Lead and engineering team
- Develops working drawings for civil design plans in AutoCAD Civil 3D (grading, drainage, utility, stormwater management and street frontage improvements) from sketches
- Uses engineering judgment to perform duties and knows when to ask questions, seek assistance or perform independent research
- Manages personal time allotted to various tasks in order to meet obligations of one or more projects, including budget, quality and schedule
- Provide accurate design of on-site and off-site improvements for the planning and construction of commercial, industrial, and/or high-density residential projects that are ready for construction
- Can provide accurate design of grading, drainage, utilities and stormwater treatment with minimal input from engineer of record
- Performs civil engineering calculations, SWPPP’s and other engineering reports
- Effectively interacts with peers, clients, and sub-consultants
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent level of experience (2025-2026 Graduates are welcome to apply)
- 0-5 years of experience in land development
- General knowledge of computers, Microsoft office, Adobe, Internet applications, etc
Preferred Qualifications:
- Engineering in training (EIT) or scheduled to sit for exam is preferred
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Bluebeam, preferred
- Additional software experience a plus, e.g., Agtek, Hydrology/Hydraulic Software
