The K-Boost Technology Manager will support all phases of the BD and execution for the K-Boost product line including technology development, business development and customer support. The K-Boost team is an agile and dedicated sub-PSL (Product Service Line) group focused on revamping and supporting existing KBR licensed ammonia facilities and other licensor facilities when applicable. The team utilizes industry leading subject matter expertise, KBR proprietary equipment and open-art Best Available Technology to improve ammonia plant performance focusing on 3 core pillars: rate increase, reliability improvement and emissions reduction. The successful candidate should be able to assess, diagnose and articulate opportunities to client stakeholders from operations through to senior executives via credible first principles engineering and an appreciation for maintaining operability and reliability of existing assets.
Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Support North & South American as K-Boost SME; to handle detailed client engagements on revamp projects.
Perform BD function, traveling to facilities sell and execute bottlenecks resolution services and uncover new K-Boost opportunities
Commissioning and start-up support for Revamp / Turnaround projects
Contribute as an operations and / or process SME to support the Technical Services team in developing KBR’s on-site services in ammonia and fertilizer facilities.
Execution of paid client RCA’s, troubleshooting enquiries, catalyst evaluations and development of the operations focused Technical Services offering
Development of Owner/Operator focused K-Boost and Technical Services product alignments and positioning strategies
Engagement in BED execution as the internal client advocate; focusing KBR efforts on improving operability and project viability to secure client Final Investment Decision
Ownership of SoW definition for new leads and projects in K-Boost Americas (with global overlap)
Utilize technology experience and engineering knowledge of CA&H product lines
Publish technical papers, technology information packages for clients, responding to client questions regarding technology, project execution and deliverables
Lead technology sessions, present papers, build customer and partner relationships, and develop new/existing sales leads
Development and maintenance of relationships with key client decision makers and executives
Technology support of sales leads by participating in meeting and liaison between technology and sales teams
Support of marketing events as a spokesperson for the business line
Maintain awareness and evaluate the state of the global K-Boost market, advising on business line strategy and technology development
To provide support to the evaluation and execution of alliances and acquisitions of relevant technologies
Under broad direction, to interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate other duties as assigned
Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
Minimum of 15+ years CURRENT experience in ammonia and/or hydrogen, nitric acid and/or syngas and related technologies
Capable of understanding technology differences and can collaboratively convince others about pros and cons of various technologies
Understands challenges related to new technology implementation, including financial, environmental, legal, social and technical aspects
Able to work in cross-functional and multi-cultural environments
Must have the ability to clearly convey technical concepts and principles in both verbal and written communications to clients, peers and KBR management
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills:
BSc or MSc in Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or equivalent
MBA would be a plus
Experience with business development is strongly desired
Operational experience in an ammonia or similar (e.g. methanol, nitric acid, etc.) plant or EPC experience would be a plus
Special Requirements
Must be willing and available for 25-30% domestic and international travel as required.
