Job Description
Summary: Kayne Anderson is a leading alternative investment management firm focused on real estate, credit, infrastructure, and energy. The Underwriting Associate will be responsible for reviewing diligence, preparing transaction memos, developing financial models, and managing a portfolio of accounts while effectively communicating findings both internally and externally.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and analyze investment merits and underwriting risks
- Manage financial modeling
- Organize, review, and present transaction due diligence
- Conduct industry research to supplement third-party reports
- Support the underwriting and syndication of credit facilities, including:
- Preparation of written documents (diligence question lists, internal screening memos, underwriting memos, term sheets, lender presentations, etc.)
- Communication with transaction stakeholders (senior and subordinated lenders, the private equity sponsor, and the target company)
- Assistance in the legal documentation and closing process
- Active participation in investment committee meetings
- Proactive problem solving, client interaction, and active daily management of a portfolio of accounts (e.g., spreading financial data, validating compliance certificates, quarterly valuations, co-managing amendment processes, etc.)
Required Qualifications:
- 1-3 years of experience in a financial, accounting, or related environment
- Robust analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Deep understanding of accounting and financial analysis with a proficiency in financial modeling
- Comfortable interacting with sponsors, management, investors, and other key external partners
- Ability to multi-task and manage time and workload efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and proactive by nature
- Demonstrate effective working relationship with teammates
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
