Job Description
Summary: Kairos Power is a new nuclear energy technology and engineering company whose mission is to enable the world’s transition to clean energy. They are offering an exciting opportunity for students to join their Electrical Engineering team as an intern for Summer 2026, providing hands-on experience in design, implementation, and operation of control systems for their test reactor.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design and implementation of control systems for the test reactor
- Support measurement instrumentation and automated digital system process control
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective integration of control systems
- Participate in troubleshooting and optimizing control systems to enhance performance
- Perform data collection, analysis, and documentation to support project needs
- Contribute to the preparation and review of technical reports and presentations
- Engage in continuous learning and professional development to stay current with industry trends
- Support various engineering tasks, including testing, validation, and prototyping
- Actively participate in team meetings, providing updates and contributing to discussions
- Maintain clear and organized records of all work performed
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Current student enrolled and pursuing a B.S, M.S, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related field
- Experience with control system software (LabVIEW, PLCs, etc.)
- Knowledge of electrical and mechanical principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office application (Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Self-starter, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Proven team player with excellent verbal, written communication/presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well in an integrated collaborative team environment, including frequent interactions with cross-functional teams
- Prioritizes and ensures safety of oneself and others
- Ability to proactively collect, manage and transfer knowledge
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated application of technical skills outside of classroom setting through laboratory, research, extracurricular projects, personal projects, or prior internship/work experience is highly preferred
- Experience with control system analysis and design and control systems protocols is a plus
