Job Description
Summary: Judd Wire, Inc., a Sumitomo Electric Group company, is looking for a resourceful, self-motivated Process Engineering Summer Intern in their Turners Falls, MA facility. The intern will support Judd Wire’s Process Engineering activities and manage a core project while fulfilling general department duties including product sample testing and technical report writing.
Responsibilities:
- Managing one core project while also fulfilling general department duties
- Product sample testing using an Instron test machine and other various types of inspection equipment
- Physical sample/data collection in a factory environment
- Analysis of said samples and subsequent writing of technical reports with results and recommendations for improvement based on findings
- Supporting the IQ/OQ/PQ (Installation/Operation/Performance Qualification) of an upgraded Aerospace vertical marking line
- Testing and evaluation of key design characteristic changes to inkpots, wire pass line and fixture design
- Classification of airframe wire and cable extrusion defects
- Generation and updates to various CAD drawings
- Assisting in continual improvement projects as assigned by the supervisor
Required Qualifications:
- Student currently enrolled in an accredited engineering College or University
- Pursuing a bachelors degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical or other similar engineering discipline
- Possess effective verbal and written communication skills
- Must have sound time management, organization & presentation skills
- Must have comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work and collaborate effectively with cross functional departments including operations, quality, and production control personnel
- Comfortable and willing to work in a 'hands-on' manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Junior or Senior year preferred
- Experience with software tools such as Minitab and Solidworks a plus
