DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a Sr. Director, APAC, located in Sydney, Australia or Singapore
Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopedics business to establish a standalone orthopedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes and your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to you by DePuy Synthes at an appropriate time and subject to any necessary consultation processes.
Job Overview
The Sr. Director, APAC provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for DePuy Synthes across the Asia‑Pacific region. This role is responsible for driving business performance, shaping regional strategy, and ensuring alignment with global priorities while addressing local market needs. The position has a significant impact on growth, innovation, and execution across diverse markets and plays a key role in advancing DePuy Synthes’ mission and long‑term success in the region.
Key Responsibilities
Set and execute the APAC regional strategy in alignment with global business objectives
Provide senior leadership and direction to regional teams to drive performance, growth, and operational excellence
Oversee regional business planning, forecasting, and performance management activities
Partner with global leaders to ensure consistent execution of enterprise strategies and initiatives across APAC
Drive market expansion, innovation, and portfolio optimization across diverse APAC markets
Ensure compliance with regulatory, quality, and governance requirements across the region
Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, partners, and internal leaders
Develop and mentor senior leaders to build a strong, diverse leadership pipeline
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, HR or a related field (required)
MBA or other advanced degree (preferred)
Experience and Skills:
Required:
Typically 10-12 years of progressive leadership experience, including senior leadership roles with regional or global scope
Demonstrated experience leading complex, multi‑country operations or portfolios
Proven ability to develop and execute regional strategies that drive growth and performance
Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets, forecasts, and P&L responsibility
Experience operating in matrixed, global organizations
Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder‑influencing skills
Preferred:
Experience in medical devices, healthcare, life sciences, or other regulated industries
Prior APAC regional leadership experience across multiple markets
Experience driving transformation, change management, or large‑scale growth initiatives
Demonstrated success building high‑performing, diverse leadership teams
Experience partnering with executive‑level stakeholders and boards
Other:
Languages: English required; additional APAC regional languages preferred
Travel: Up to 30–40% international travel within the APAC region
Certifications: Executive leadership or business certifications (preferred)
