Job Description
Summary: Johnson & Johnson is a leader in healthcare innovation, committed to improving health for humanity. The Global Transport & Trade Summer Intern will support logistics and trade compliance activities, utilizing transportation data to enhance operations and ensure efficient product delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Lead/Own: Day-to-day transportation execution by supervising shipments, assisting with exceptions, and contributing to service performance metrics (OTD, carrier benchmarks, critical issues)
- Learn: How J&J Global Transportation and extended teams keep freight moving when plans change; prioritization, problem-solving, and balancing cost, service, and speed
- Deliver: Practical improvements like dashboard metrics, cleaner reporting, and documented playbooks/SOP updates that make execution faster and more consistent
- Lead/Own: Support day-to-day trade compliance activities by helping review shipment documentation, tracking compliance requirements, assisting with issue resolution, and contributing to process controls that enable compliant import/export execution
- Learn: How Johnson & Johnson manages global trade requirements across regions; including the importance of documentation accuracy, policy and standards adherence, risk awareness, and cross-functional coordination with transportation, operations, legal, and trade teams
- Deliver: Practical improvements such as cleaner reporting, process documentation, training support materials, and data-driven insights that strengthen compliance, improve visibility, and make trade operations more standardized and efficient
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Supply Chain/Logistics, Business, International Business, Finance, Engineering, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field
- Have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher, which is reflective of all college coursework
- Minimum Freshman standing before the internship start date, with a graduation date after the contract end date
- Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Analytical mindset with the ability to identify patterns, investigate issues, and recommend practical improvements
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
- Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Excel-based analysis, reporting, and dashboarding
- Exposure to Power BI, Tableau, SQL, and/or Python through coursework or projects
- Interest in process improvement, automation, and data-driven decision-making
- For logistics-focused roles: interest in transportation operations, execution, and service performance
- For trade-focused roles: interest in documentation accuracy, policy adherence, compliance controls, and risk awareness
- Comfort using AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to improve productivity and refine work outputs
