Job Description
Summary: Johnson Electric is a global leader in motion systems, and they are seeking a Process Engineering Intern to support the engineering team in analyzing and improving manufacturing processes. This role offers hands-on experience in lean manufacturing and process optimization within an automotive production environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in evaluating and improving manufacturing processes for efficiency, safety, and quality
- Collect and analyze production data to identify trends and areas for improvement
- Support the implementation of lean manufacturing principles and process standardization
- Participate in time studies, workflow analysis, and layout optimization
- Help develop and update process documentation, work instructions, and SOPs
- Collaborate with production, quality, and maintenance teams to resolve process-related issues
- Assist in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation
- Present findings and recommendations to engineering and operations leadership
- Support safety initiatives and ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Detail-oriented with a strong desire to learn and contribute
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the production floor for extended periods
- Occasionally lift up to 25 lbs
- Use of PPE such as safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toe shoes required
- Exposure to manufacturing noise, machinery, and industrial equipment
- Work is performed in both office and manufacturing environments
- Must follow all safety protocols and participate in safety training
- Adherence to company policies and OSHA regulations is mandatory
Preferred Qualifications:
- CAD or simulation software is a plus
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies is a plus
