Job Description
Summary: Johnson Controls is a global leader in smart, healthy and sustainable buildings, and they are seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern. This internship offers hands-on learning experiences with technical contributions while working closely with experienced electrical engineers on real-world product development and engineering processes.
Responsibilities:
- Support lead electrical engineers with tasks such as:
- Component and part qualification
- Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) design
- Test box design, build, and validation
- Engineering analysis and system testing
- Proof-of-concept and final system testing support
- Perform routine engineering tasks under close supervision using established standards, procedures, and work instructions
- Assist in the development and documentation of:
- Standard operating procedures
- Design standardization efforts
- Engineering change notices (ECNs)
- Apply predetermined methods, sequences, and setups to complete assigned job duties accurately and efficiently
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams as needed
- Complete additional responsibilities and learning opportunities as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled full-time in a four-year accredited college or university
- Broad technical foundation in: Electrical engineering, Mechanical design principles, Control systems development
- Strong analytical, conceptual, and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-based environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work productively with minimal supervision
- Authorized to work in the United States full-time without restriction during the internship
