Software Engineering Intern at Joby Aviation in Santa Cruz, CA

Summary: Joby Aviation is working to make piloted air taxis a reality and is currently in the final stages of certifying their aircraft with the FAA. They are looking for a motivated intern to join their software development teams to help build a clean global transportation system. Responsibilities: - Join one of the Software Development Teams to help build a revolutionary transportation system - Contribute directly to designing, coding, testing, and building on and off aircraft applications used by engineers and other teams across the company Required Qualifications: - Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Engineering, UX Design, or related field, graduating between December 2026 and August 2027 - Ability to identify challenging problems and potential solutions with guidance from a mentor, and work toward them with a high degree of independence - Experience/Comfort with application and/or object-oriented technologies such as C++, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Python, SQL, Docker, AWS - Coding, debugging and trouble-shooting skills - Good written and verbal communication skills - Willingness to learn! Preferred Qualifications: - Strong examples of previous engineering and design experience from past internships and/or extracurricular projects - Experience working on cross-disciplinary projects involving software development for a hardware system - Ability to learn quickly and multi-task in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment - Passionate about aviation and/or robotics Required Skills: C++, Python, OOP Important Skills: JavaScript, SQL, Docker, AWS Nice-to-Have Skills: Debugging, Willingness to learn, Communication, Problem-solving
