Job Description
Summary: Joby Aviation is seeking a passionate and driven intern to join their flight test instrumentation team. This role involves designing, installing, and troubleshooting instrumentation hardware in Joby aircraft, requiring a can-do attitude in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices
- Help develop manuals and supporting documentation necessary to operate flight test instrumentation systems
- Complete required documentation in accordance with established company and FAA procedures
- Install and troubleshoot instrumentation systems on aircraft and in the ground control station
Required Qualifications:
- Pursuing or has completed a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with day-to-day applications used for email, word processing, etc
- Data analysis experience using LabVIEW, Matlab, Python, or similar tools
- Mechanical design or manufacturing experience
- Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with colleagues across a wide range of technical disciplines
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, work extended hours, and travel as required
- Proficiency in reading and speaking English
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experimental flight test experience, preferably related to eVTOL or UAS
- Hands-on experience in motor sports and/or electric vehicles (e.g., AIAA Design, Build, Fly; Formula SAE)
- Heading into junior or senior year of an undergraduate degree or above by the start of the internship
- Experience with CATIA tool
