Accountabilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of 5+ data engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and psychological safety while supporting career growth and performance excellence.
- Define and drive the technical vision for the data platform, with a strong focus on scalable architecture, semantic layer design, and enterprise-grade data sharing capabilities.
- Oversee platform reliability, performance optimization, and query efficiency to ensure fast, consistent, and secure access to data across the organization.
- Partner with product managers and architecture teams to translate business requirements into actionable technical roadmaps and engineering priorities.
- Own operational excellence including monitoring, alerting, incident response, on-call processes, and platform health metrics.
- Establish engineering standards for CI/CD, data governance, data quality, lineage, and access control across the platform.
- Guide complex technical initiatives such as semantic modeling, data mesh patterns, and observability improvements to strengthen platform maturity.
Requirements
The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of experience in data or software engineering, including at least 2+ years in a leadership role managing engineering teams. You should have strong experience designing and scaling enterprise data platforms with deep expertise in semantic modeling and data sharing. Hands-on experience with modern data stack tools such as dbt and semantic frameworks like MetricFlow is essential, along with strong proficiency in Snowflake and advanced SQL. Familiarity with Apache Spark, Python, and Snowpark is highly desirable.
You should have strong operational experience owning production systems, including incident management, on-call processes, and reliability engineering practices. A solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions) and data observability tools such as DataDog or Monte Carlo is expected. Excellent communication skills are critical, with the ability to influence stakeholders, explain technical trade-offs, and drive alignment across teams. Experience with data governance, performance tuning, and scalable distributed systems is highly valued.
