Job Description
Summary: JFK International Air Terminal is seeking an IT Intern to gain hands-on experience in information technology and digital solutions. The intern will assist with technical support, systems management, and project implementation while working closely with the IT & Digital department.
Responsibilities:
- Assist teams within the IT & Digital department with identified projects that are aligned with corporate strategic pillars
- Provide first-level technical support for hardware, software and network-related issues
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving IT issues in a timely manner
- Document & track support requests using IT Service Management software (ServiceNow)
- Perform maintenance on IT devices and equipment
- Assist with the setup, configuration and deployment of computers and other IT equipment
- Support the IT teams in maintaining network infrastructure and assist with troubleshooting issues
- Help install, update and manage software applications
- Assist with IT asset management, licensing management and compliance tracking
- Participate in IT-related projects such as system upgrades, migrations or upgrades
- Conduct research to support IT initiatives and recommend improvements
- Maintain accurate records of IT assets and inventory
- Update IT & Digital procedures, guidelines, and runbooks as needed
- Work closely with team members to achieve department goals
- Communicate effectively with staff and end-users to understand and address their technology needs
Required Qualifications:
- Current enrollment in or recent completion of a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain and maintain federally mandated security clearances required to work at an airport
- Two to six months duration
- Monday – Friday (flexible schedule 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM)
- Requires working 20-28 hours per week
- Basic understanding of IT Service Management (ITSM)
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 Applications, operating systems (Microsoft Windows) and networking concepts
- Apple iOS devices
- Basic understanding of cyber security principles and practices
- Basic knowledge of computer networking concepts and protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, DNS)
- Basic knowledge of network equipment including switches, servers, and related hardware
- Background knowledge of airport/aviation solutions & systems
- Clear verbal and written communication
- Can analyze and synthesize information from multiple sources to develop and communicate complex information orally and in written format to both technical and non-technical backgrounds
- Demonstrated analytical mindset with ability to troubleshoot and creatively solve business and technical
