Job Description
Summary: Jefferies is a leading global investment banking and capital markets firm, and they are seeking an Equity Research Associate to support senior strategists in producing impactful research on equity markets and macro trends. The role involves conducting analysis, preparing reports, and collaborating with various teams to provide insights to clients.
Responsibilities:
- Support senior strategists in producing high-impact research on equity markets, macro trends, and investment themes
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis of market data, economic indicators, and sector performance
- Assist in the development of investment frameworks and models to evaluate equity market dynamics
- Prepare and maintain databases, charts, and presentations for internal and client-facing use
- Draft research notes, reports, and presentations that communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely
- Monitor financial news, macroeconomic developments, and market movements to identify emerging trends
- Collaborate with sales, trading, and other research teams to deliver timely and relevant insights to clients
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field; advanced degree or CFA a plus
- 1–3 years of experience in equity research, investment strategy, or a related analytical role
- The candidate should feel comfortable working with large datasets as this role can involve analysis of thousands of equity securities
- Strong understanding of financial markets, macroeconomics, and equity valuation
- Proficiency in Excel, FactSet, Bloomberg, and data visualization tools; programming skills (Python, R, or SQL) a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
- Intellectual curiosity and a passion for markets and investing
