JBE Concepts, a leading hospitality procurement and supply company, is looking for an experienced, assertive and results-driven Debtors Collection Clerk to join our finance team.

We are looking for someone with a strong personality, exceptional negotiation skills and a determined approach to debt recovery.

This is not simply an administrative debtors position. We need someone who is confident, persistent, commercially minded and capable of taking ownership of outstanding accounts and driving collections.

Key Responsibilities

• Proactively manage and collect outstanding customer accounts.
• Conduct firm, professional follow-ups with overdue debtors.
• Negotiate payment arrangements and ensure commitments are honoured.
• Manage debtor ageing reports and prioritise overdue balances.
• Resolve payment disputes and escalate problematic accounts.
• Maintain accurate records of collection activity and payment commitments.
• Work towards collection targets and improved debtor payment cycles.
• Liaise with management regarding high-risk and long-outstanding accounts.

Requirements

• Proven experience in debt collection is essential.
• Strong telephone manner, negotiation and communication skills.
• Assertive, resilient and confident when dealing with difficult customers.
• Persistent and determined, with the ability to secure payment commitments.
• Good understanding of debtor ageing, reconciliations and credit control.
• Highly organised, disciplined and accountable.
• Comfortable working under pressure and meeting collection targets.
• Experience in a commercial, wholesale or distribution environment advantageous.

The Ideal Candidate

We want a collector, not just an administrator.

Someone who is not easily intimidated, understands the importance of cash flow, follows through on commitments and knows how to balance firm collection practices with professional customer relationships.
