Job Description
Summary: J&J Snack Foods is a leader in the snack food industry, providing a variety of branded snack foods to foodservice and retail outlets across the U.S. The Staff Accountant will assist the accounting department with daily functions, including manufacturing accounting processes, month-end closing responsibilities, and inventory management.
Responsibilities:
- Manufacturing Accounting Process
- Daily inventory back flushing in JD Edwards
- Review for accuracy and analysis of variances, report to Operations and Plant Controller for continued improvements
- Creation of new bill of materials
- Maintenance of current bill of materials
- Month end closing responsibilities
- Standard Journal Entries
- Balance Sheet Reconciliations
- Raw/PKG reconciliation to GL
- Participate in inventory counting and reconciliation practices
- Assist in maintaining accurate RAW/PKG/FG inventory valuations in JD Edwards
- Run reports in JD Edwards to begin the physical inventory process for month end
- Independently research errors and recommend adjustments needed
- Make Inventory adjustments based on scrap reports from production floor, BOL’s of shipments out to other sites, etc
- Review variances with Plant Controller
- Responsible for food safety and quality
- Other tasks as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent experience
- Fundamental understanding of GAAP principles
- Experienced with general ledger coding and budget tracking practices
- 1-3 years of experience in accounting role, preferably in manufacturing
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Computer skills in Word/ Excel, Outlook & JD Edwards
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Must be able to communicate and work effectively with different levels and locations of the organization
- Follow OSHA safety rules, GMP's, and all applicable food safety regulations
- Regular and reliable attendance
