Job Description
Cavendish Farms is looking for a Trade Spend Analyst to join our Finance team. In this role, you’ll play a key part in ensuring customer trade agreements — such as rebates, discounts, and promotional allowances — are accurately tracked, recorded, and reconciled.
This is a finance/accounting operations role, not a data analytics or BI position. The role focuses on trade spend accounting — reviewing customer trade agreements, setting up and managing accruals, reconciling accounts, and ensuring trade spend is recorded accurately in the financial statements.
What a Day Looks Like
Your day will be a mix of reviewing trade agreements, working in financial systems, reconciling accounts, and collaborating with internal partners. A large part of the role focuses on ensuring trade spend balances are accurate, complete, and audit‑ready. The work is structured, detail‑oriented, and critical to the accuracy of financial results.
Responsibilities
• Review and approve customer trade agreements to ensure all trade spend is properly recorded
• Set up and maintain trade spend accruals so expenses are reflected accurately in financial results
• Reconcile trade spend expense and liability accounts and investigate variances
• Calculate amounts owed to customers based on actual sales and approved agreements
• Prepare vouchers for Accounts Payable to ensure accurate and timely payments
• Update trade spend budgets and support forecasting by flagging significant changes
• Work closely with Sales, Finance, Trade Spend Coordinators, and Accounts Payable
• Support internal controls, audits, and month end / quarter end reporting
Qualifications
• Post secondary education in Business, Accounting, or a related field
• 3–5 years of experience in a business administration, accounting, or financial role
• Strong attention to detail and comfort working with numbers and reconciliations
• Experience working with financial systems - JD Edwards (E1), ERP experience is an asset
• Strong knowledge of Excel
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross functional teams
