Job Description
Summary: Irradiant Technologies is pioneering the future of nano-optics and photonics with their proprietary 3D nanofabrication platform. The Materials Process Technician is responsible for producing nanoporous materials in a wet-chemistry lab, focusing on quality control and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Follow SOPs to produce nanoporous materials with high levels of precision
- Utilize a variety of analytical techniques and instruments to carry out simple characterization techniques, following quality control (QC) procedures
- Continuous SOP review to aid material production efficiency and accuracy
- Maintain inventory of produced materials, and keep documentation & quality control reports organized for internal/external use
- Report results and timeline adherence to relevant stakeholders as production occurs
- Maintain detailed design documents, process specifications, and test reports
Required Qualifications:
- Proven wet lab experience (academic, internship, co-op, or professional), with comfort working in a wet chemistry environment
- Strong attention to detail with a demonstrated ability to follow SOPs precisely, plus ensuring adherence across the team
- Execute multi-step processes consistently and efficiently
- Recognize, communicate, and document deviations or abnormalities
- Excellent documentation practices, including clean, complete, and traceable recordkeeping (batch records, lab notebooks, electronic logs, characterization data)
- Materials testing and characterization experience including sample preparation
- Safety mindset and EHS awareness, including proper PPE use, chemical hygiene, waste handling, and maintaining a safe, organized workspace
- Process-oriented, highly organized, able to manage multiple tasks, track lots/batches, label materials correctly and maintain workflow discipline
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods and work comfortably at benches/fume hoods in wet chemistry settings
- Exposure to nanostructured materials synthesis (coursework, research, internships or production work) and with a willingness to learn
Preferred Qualifications:
- CNC and manual fabrication skills (fixture and sample prep or tooling support)
- Familiarity with scripting/data tools such as Python, MATLAB, or similar
