Quality Assurance Specialist (Shopify /… at InvenTel · Pakistan
Job Description
We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive Website Quality Assurance Specialist (Shopify / E-Commerce) to protect the quality, functionality, accuracy, and customer experience of multiple e-commerce websites.
This role is responsible for testing Shopify website updates before launch, validating live-site functionality after release, conducting ongoing site-health audits, identifying issues before customers or clients find them, and ensuring defects are documented, assigned, corrected, and retested through resolution.
The ideal candidate has a strong eye for detail, excellent follow-through, and meaningful
experience with Shopify websites and e-commerce user journeys. Web development experience is strongly preferred, as it helps the candidate identify technical issues, communicate clearly with developers, understand theme and app behavior, and distinguish between design, content, functionality, and platform-related issues.
This is not solely a proofreading or visual-review role. The Website QA Specialist will own a
structured quality-assurance process across multiple brands, ensuring that website work is fully tested, customer-facing issues are surfaced quickly, and completed work meets agreed-upon requirements before it is considered done.
Key responsibilities:
● Perform comprehensive QA testing for Shopify website updates, bug fixes, theme
changes, new features, promotional campaigns, landing pages, product launches,
integrations, and site releases.
● Review assigned work against ticket requirements, approved designs, business rules,
acceptance criteria, and intended customer experience.
● Test functionality across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices, as well as relevant
browsers.
● Validate product pages, collection pages, search, filters, navigation, forms, cart behavior, checkout flows, customer accounts, wish lists, reviews, subscriptions, bundles,
promotions, and other critical e-commerce experiences.
● Confirm that product information, images, pricing, discounts, promotional messaging,
inventory status, shipping information, links, buttons, and calls to action are correct.
● Test marketing and e-commerce campaign components, including discount codes,
automatic discounts, bundles, gifts with purchase, free-shipping offers, landing pages,
pop-ups, banners, product availability, and cart rules.
● Validate third-party apps, integrations, tracking pixels, analytics events, forms,
subscription tools, review tools, loyalty programs, and other customer-facing website
tools.
● Compare developed pages against approved design files, brand standards, and
functional requirements.
● Identify visual defects, broken functionality, incorrect content, responsive-design issues, browser inconsistencies, usability concerns, and customer-experience gaps.
● Conduct regression testing after fixes are made to confirm the original issue is resolved
and no related functionality has been negatively affected.
● Perform post-launch production checks immediately following significant releases,
promotions, migrations, or website changes.
Live-site quality monitoring
● Conduct recurring audits of live Shopify storefronts across assigned brands to identify
customer-facing issues proactively.
● Monitor live sites for broken links, 404 errors, missing images, broken buttons,
inaccurate navigation, incorrect forms, layout problems, mobile issues, browser-specific
problems, and outdated or incorrect content.
● Check key customer journeys regularly, including home page, navigation, product pages, collections, search, cart, checkout, account access, customer-service pages, and major promotional landing pages.
● Review live promotions to ensure pricing, offer details, discount codes, messaging,
product eligibility, inventory availability, cart behavior, and checkout outcomes are
accurate.
● Monitor active and recently launched campaigns to identify issues that may affect
conversion, revenue, customer trust, or campaign performance.
● Identify publicly accessible staging, development, preview, test, or duplicate websites
that should be password protected, redirected, archived, or decommissioned.
● Identify duplicate product pages, collections, landing pages, campaign pages, duplicate
URLs, old domains, outdated subdomains, and legacy sites that may create poor
customer experiences or SEO-related risks.
● Audit redirects to identify missing redirects, incorrect redirect destinations, redirect loops, redirect chains, redirects to irrelevant destinations, and pages improperly returning 404 errors.
● Verify that retired, discontinued, seasonal, old campaign, or migrated URLs are handled
appropriately in coordination with Web Development, SEO, Marketing, and brand
stakeholders.
● Monitor sitewide elements such as navigation, footers, headers, pop-ups, banners,
search results, internal links, customer-service pages, and promotional messaging.
● Escalate urgent live-site problems immediately, including checkout failures, widespread
site outages, pricing errors, broken promotions, broken high-traffic pages, security
concerns, or issues materially affecting customers or revenue.
Defect management and follow-through
● Create detailed, clear, actionable bug reports in ClickUp or the team’s selected
task-management platform.
● Include the affected URL, brand, environment, issue type, severity, steps to reproduce,
expected result, actual result, screenshots or videos, browser/device information, and
relevant business context in every QA ticket.
● Assign or route issues to the appropriate team or owner based on the nature of the
issue.
● Track bugs, requests, and fixes from identification through implementation, retesting,
approval, and confirmed closure.
● Maintain accurate status updates and proactively follow up on open issues, overdue
fixes, blocked items, and unresolved risks.
● Reopen tasks when a fix does not fully resolve the issue or creates additional problems.
● Prioritize issues based on customer impact, revenue impact, launch risk, severity,
frequency, and business urgency.
● Maintain a visible QA backlog and ensure important issues are not lost in Slack, email,
meetings, or informal requests.
● Communicate QA status, major issues, risks, launch readiness, and recurring defect
trends to the Web Development Team Lead and relevant stakeholders.
QA systems and continuous improvement
● Build, maintain, and improve QA checklists, testing standards, test cases, SOPs,
release-readiness requirements, and website-health audit processes.
● Create repeatable QA procedures for common work types, including promotions, new
product launches, landing pages, theme updates, app changes, redirects, site
migrations, and major releases.
● Maintain documentation for recurring defects, known issues, test coverage, platform
limitations, and resolution history.
● Identify patterns in defects, incomplete requirements, unclear handoffs, missed
deadlines, repeated rework, or weak release processes.
● Recommend practical improvements to workflows, ticket requirements, developer
handoffs, QA standards, and website-release procedures.
● Partner with the Web Development Team Lead to improve the team’s definition of
“done,” including required QA, stakeholder approval, documentation, and live-site
validation.
● Participate in planning meetings, ticket grooming, project kickoffs, standups, release
reviews, and post-launch retrospectives as needed.
● Help establish reporting for QA volume, defect severity, recurring issues, time to
resolution, failed releases, and quality trends by brand.
Required qualifications:
● 3+ years of experience in website QA, e-commerce QA, software QA, Shopify
administration, web production, web development, or a closely related role.
● Experience testing Shopify or comparable e-commerce websites.
● Strong understanding of customer-facing e-commerce functionality, including product
pages, collections, cart behavior, checkout, promotional offers, discounts, forms,
navigation, search, and mobile storefront experience.
● Ability to identify functional, visual, content, responsive-design, usability, browser, and
device-specific defects.
● Experience writing clear bug reports with detailed reproduction steps and supporting
evidence.
● Experience using ClickUp, Jira, Asana, Monday.com, Trello, Linear, or a comparable
task-management or issue-tracking platform.
● Excellent organizational skills, ownership, follow-through, and attention to detail.
● Ability to manage multiple brands, websites, tickets, campaigns, and competing
deadlines without losing track of details.
● Strong written communication skills and the ability to communicate defects professionally
to technical and nontechnical teams.
● Ability to prioritize issues based on severity, customer impact, revenue impact, and
launch urgency.
● Comfort working with checklists, SOPs, testing standards, deadlines, and structured
approval processes.
● Ability to work independently, raise issues early, ask effective questions, and follow items
through to verified completion.
Preferred qualifications:
● Hands-on Shopify development experience, including Shopify Liquid, HTML, CSS,
JavaScript, Shopify themes, templates, sections, metafields, and Shopify apps.
● Experience working with Shopify Plus, custom storefront features, Shopify APIs, custom
apps, app integrations, or complex e-commerce workflows.
● Experience using Chrome DevTools, browser-inspection tools, responsive testing tools,
and browser/device testing platforms such as BrowserStack.
● Experience validating analytics, conversion tracking, pixels, Google Tag Manager, forms,
and marketing integrations.
● Familiarity with technical SEO, canonical tags, redirects, duplicate-content issues, XML
sitemaps, broken-link audits, and site-crawl tools.
● Experience with Git, GitHub, staging environments, release workflows, code reviews, or
deployment processes.
● Experience comparing web builds against Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or other approved
design files.
● Experience testing subscriptions, bundles, upsells, loyalty programs, reviews,
international storefronts, shipping rules, taxes, and inventory logic.
● Familiarity with accessibility standards, site performance, Core Web Vitals, mobile
optimization, and conversion-rate optimization.
● Experience in an agency, e-commerce agency, DTC brand, multi-brand organization, or
high-volume web-production environment.
● Experience developing QA SOPs, launch checklists, recurring audit processes, reports,
dashboards, or quality metrics.
