Purpose of Job:
Advance evangelism and discipleship by providing spiritual care and guidance, teaching, and leadership as the Chaplain of Interstate Batteries. This role also oversees and strengthens the company’s ministry and charitable giving efforts at both the domestic and international levels.
Job Components:
Philanthropy Leadership
Oversee and steward annual philanthropy account, ensuring wise allocation of resources.
Vet and evaluate the financial, leadership, and organizational health of over 150 ministry and non-profit partners.
Manage and provide oversight to a third party that administers the Team Member Assistance Fund, functioning as a benevolence fund to meet the short-term emergency needs of team members.
Spiritual Care & Guidance
Provide spiritual care, biblical counseling, and Christ-centered guidance for Interstate employees, fostering growth and community.
Serve as a resource for prayer, encouragement, and support across the organization. Includes regular travel to company operations (i.e., Des Moines, Interstate Owned Territories (IOTs), etc.).
Advance evangelism and discipleship among team members by regularly sharing the gospel, mentoring believers, and equipping leaders for spiritual growth.
Regularly teach biblical principles in front of company leadership, modeling faith integration with business practice.
Oversee and lead multiple Bible studies, both personally and through direct reports, ensuring team members are regularly equipped with biblical teaching.
Leadership & Team Management
Lead and develop a team of direct reports, providing clear direction, mentorship, and accountability.
Speak directly into the spiritual health of the business, guiding leadership and culture toward evangelism, discipleship, and alignment with biblical principles.
Build a culture of excellence, stewardship, and ministry alignment, while fostering community and joy across the team and broader organization.
Events & Representation
Manage and execute Interstate corporate ministry events, creating opportunities for team members to grow spiritually, engage in discipleship, and serve others.
Manage and distribute corporate-held tickets to sporting and symphony events, not sponsored by Interstate.
Represent the company in both domestic and international travel, including maintaining global partner relationships and leading team members on ministry-related trips.
Budget & Financial Accountability
Create, develop, and manage the annual department budget in alignment with company values and financial priorities.
Qualifications:
A demonstrated love for Jesus Christ and commitment to serving Him in all aspects of life and work.
Seminary education required.
People leadership experience preferred, including a track record of developing and motivating teams.
Strong organizational, financial, teaching, and counseling skills.
Excellent communication and relational skills, with the ability to work across diverse cultural and organizational contexts.
Proven ability to administer systems and controls over a large-scale philanthropy budget with confidentiality and integrity.
Experience in evangelism, discipleship, international ministry, nonprofit management, or cross-cultural engagement preferred.
Scope Data:
Oversee a team of direct reports.
Maintain and steward relationships with over 150 domestic and international ministries and non-profit partners.
Regular interaction with Support Center personnel, Team Members across the Interstate system, partner organizations, and global ministry leaders.
Accountability for work, financial stewardship, and ministry outcomes directly to the Chief Executive Officer.

Work Environment:
Domestic and international travel as required.
In-office requirements of at least 4 days per week.
Ability to sustain posture in a seated position for prolonged periods of time.
Regularly required to use hands to grasp or handle, talk and hear, stand and walk.
Specific vision abilities include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Prolonged use of personal computer & telephone.
