Associate, AI at Interplay in New York, NY

LOCATION New York, NY, USA (Hybrid work – required to be in office 2–3 days/week) JOB DESCRIPTION At Interplay, we invest, coach, and cofound companies. We’re building a next-generation AI operations platform designed to transform how our firm and portfolio companies operate. We’re looking for a versatile architect and engineer to join Interplay as an Associate, leading the buildout of multiple AI-powered products and solutions that support each of our business lines (Ventures, Accelerator, Studio, and Ascend). WHAT YOU’LL DO • Speak with each business line manager and map out their product needs. Utilize “Super Man” analysis to design products to do more with less. • Architect and strengthen the AI capabilities across Interplay. • Write and edit production code across APIs, MCPs, integrations, and frontends. • Design scalable, secure, multi-tenant architecture. • Build data pipelines and dashboards for portfolio intelligence. • Embed LLM-powered automation into core workflows. • Build a creative engineering culture focused on speed, quality, and reliability. WHO YOU ARE • A builder with 2–5+ years of product and engineering experience. • A people-first leader who enjoys helping others succeed. • Comfortable across frontend, backend, data, and AI/ML. • A fast learner, especially in AI and LLM frameworks. • Highly organized and execution-oriented. • Creative, proactive, and collaborative. • Positive, energetic, and outcome-driven. REQUIRED SKILLS • 2–5+ years in technology and product development. • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (MS a plus). • End-to-end ownership of product roadmaps. • Strong product and business translation skills. • Experience with AI/LLM platforms (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini). • Systems architecture, APIs, database management (SQL) and data pipelines expertise. • Strong communication skills. • U.S. work authorization. Compensation Range: $100K - $120K
