Summary: The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is a leading humanitarian organization responding to crises worldwide. They are seeking a Youth Program Intern to support the delivery of their summer program for refugee and immigrant youth, focusing on academic assistance and life skills development. Responsibilities: - Support staff in planning and delivering program activities to ensure smooth execution and engagement - Assist with logistics for activities, field trips, and workshops, including coordination, scheduling, and preparation of materials - Engage with students by facilitating discussions, offering academic support, and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment - Provide mentorship and encouragement to students, helping them develop both academically and socially - Assist with documentation and file maintenance, ensuring accurate records of student participation, progress, and program activities - Support program evaluation efforts by collecting feedback, tracking attendance, and preparing reports as needed - Collaborate with staff and volunteers to enhance program effectiveness and student engagement - Help coordinate communication with students, families, and partners regarding schedules, expectations, and program updates - Assist with other administrative tasks and special projects as needed to support the overall success of the summer program Required Qualifications: - Excellent communication and writing skills - Organizational skills with attention to detail - Ability to work independently as well as within a team and take initiative in a fast-paced environment - An interest in international and refugee issues - Commitment to upholding ethical standards and confidentiality in all interactions - Creativity and initiative to follow through on projects - Strong desire to help people, and enthusiasm and sensitivity for working in a multi-cultural setting - Willingness to work 1:1 with students to reinforce math, science, and English literacy skills - Must submit intern hours on volunteer portal - Must pass a background check - Commitment of 15 hours per week for a minimum of 3 consecutive months - Must be at least 18 years old - Must be authorized to work in the United States Preferred Qualifications: - Experience working with youth and/or young adults - Familiarity with educational support and systems Required Skills: youth Important Skills: Interest in refugee issues Nice-to-Have Skills: Sensitivity in multicultural settings, Math support, Science support, English literacy support Internship Start Date: Start in 2026 Summer Benefits: 10 sick days, 10 US holidays, 20-25 paid time off days depending on role and tenure, Medical insurance starting at $163 per month, Dental starting at $6.50 per month, Vision starting at $5 per month, FSA for healthcare and commuter costs, A 403b retirement savings plans with immediately vested matching, Disability & life insurance, An Employee Assistance Program which is available to our staff and their families to support counseling and care in times of crisis and mental health struggles.
