Summary: The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to humanitarian crises and seeks to empower individuals through financial literacy. The Financial Capabilities Intern will provide financial coaching and support to clients, facilitating workshops and assisting with financial education. Responsibilities: - Provide one-on-one financial coaching for clients - Conduct budgets and financial surveys with clients - Track client notes and progress in a spreadsheet and on ETO software - Communicate effectively in person and by phone - Facilitate monthly literacy workshops for clients - Accompany clients to bank appointments - Adhere to IRC policies, particularly those related to confidentiality and client privacy - Other related duties as assigned Required Qualifications: - Interns must be based in US - Must be a US citizen or have US work authorization - Must be enrolled in post-secondary institution or have graduated from a post-secondary institution within last 2 years - Available for a minimum of 15 hours per week - High school degree required - Basic proficiency in digital literacy Preferred Qualifications: - Prior experience in the field of personal financial management, preferably in a counseling or coaching role - Ability to speak Spanish or Haitian Creole highly preferred - Ability to speak Dari/Pashto, Arabic, or French also preferred Required Skills: Financial coaching, Personal financial management Important Skills: Digital literacy, Spanish, Haitian Creole Nice-to-Have Skills: Communication skills Benefits: 10 sick days, 10 US holidays, 20-25 paid time off days depending on role and tenure, Medical insurance starting at $163 per month, Dental starting at $6.50 per month, Vision starting at $5 per month, FSA for healthcare and commuter costs, A 403b retirement savings plans with immediately vested matching, Disability & life insurance, An Employee Assistance Program which is available to our staff and their families to support counseling and care in times of crisis and mental health struggles.
