As an intern in the Reliability & Digital Engineering team at INNIO, you will help analyze operating data from Jenbacher gas engines to understand how reliably they perform in the field. Your work will focus on turning raw fleet data into simple, clear reliability insights that engineers use to improve product design and maintenance concepts.
You will work on clearly defined analysis tasks with coaching from experienced reliability and digital engineers. No prior reliability engineering background is expected, curiosity, a structured way of working, and an interest in data are what matter most.

Your Responsibilities:
- Prepare and clean fleet operating and failure datasets for analysis
- Calculate basic reliability metrics such as MTBF, MTTR, and availability for individual engines and fleets
- Build charts, simple dashboards, and short reports to communicate results clearly
- Support reliability engineers with data for failure investigations and design reviews
- Document analysis steps to ensure repeatability and reuse
- Support improvements to data quality and existing analysis scripts
- Present your findings and learnings to the team at the end of the internship
Technical Environment:
You will work with, and be trained on, the following:
- Python for data analysis (pandas, plotly)
- SQL for querying operational databases
- Excel and standard reporting tools
- myplant, INNIO's asset management platform, as the source of fleet data
Full onboarding and training on internal tools and data sources is provided, you do not need previous experience with them.
Your Profile:
- Currently enrolled in, or recently completed, a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a similar field
- Basic experience with Python for data analysis (e.g. university coursework or personal projects)
- Basic understanding of statistics and interest in reliability, energy systems, or industrial equipment
- Analytical and structured working style with attention to detail
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English
- Willingness to learn, ask questions, and work as part of a team
- Legal work authorization for Austria required (Non-EU citizens: please attach the authorization form to your application)
- Bonus: Exposure to SQL or databases, familiarity with reliability concepts (MTBF, MTTR, availability), experience with time-series or event-based data, interest in power generation or rotating machinery, and German language skills
The internship is a full-time position for at least 6 months. The base pay is composed of the amount according to the Austrian collective agreement which is at least EUR 2.698,59 gross per month (x 14).
