Job Description
Role & Responsibilities
1. Quality Planning
- Define and implement Inspection Plans, Quality Check Points and Control Plans for Power & Distribution Transformers.
- Ensure quality requirements are incorporated throughout the manufacturing process.
2. Incoming Material Quality
- Establish and approve inspection methods and quality requirements for critical incoming materials, including:
- CRGO
- Copper
- Insulation materials
- Tanks
- Radiators
- Bushings
- Tap Changers
- Other bought-out items
3. Stage Inspection & Process Quality
- Monitor and control quality at critical manufacturing stages, including:
- Core
- Winding
- Assembly
- Tanking
- Ovening
- Oil Filling
- Final Testing
4. Supplier Quality Management
- Conduct supplier assessments and vendor audits.
- Monitor supplier quality performance and follow up on non-conformities.
- Review 8D reports and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
- Support supplier qualification and approval.
5. Customer Inspection Coordination
- Coordinate customer stage inspections and witness points.
- Ensure timely submission of required quality and inspection documents.
- Coordinate closure of customer observations and inspection comments.
6. Non-Conformance Management
- Review and monitor NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports).
- Conduct and review Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
- Drive Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Verify the effectiveness of corrective actions.
7. Testing & Final Quality Release
- Ensure compliance with required routine tests, type tests and applicable type-test requirements.
- Coordinate with Testing teams for final quality clearance.
- Ensure QA clearance and dispatch release as per customer and company requirements.
8. Quality Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain and control:
- QAP (Quality Assurance Plan)
- ITP (Inspection & Test Plan)
- Inspection records
- Calibration records/status
- Material and process traceability
- Quality and audit records
- Ensure compliance with applicable quality procedures and standards.
9. Quality Improvement
- Monitor recurring failures, customer complaints and process deviations.
- Identify root causes and drive corrective actions across relevant departments.
- Implement continuous quality improvement initiatives to reduce defects and improve product reliability.
10. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with Design, Production, SCM, Testing and Project teams to identify and resolve technical and quality-related issues.
- Drive timely resolution of quality issues affecting production, testing and customer commitments.
11. ISO 9001:2015
- Coordinate ISO 9001:2015 internal and external audits.
- Ensure timely closure of audit observations and implementation of corrective actions.
12. SAP
- Working knowledge of SAP for quality-related activities and documentation is preferred.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Education: B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) or Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: 12+ years of relevant experience in the Power & Distribution Transformer industry.
- Strong hands-on experience in Transformer Quality Management, preferably covering Power Transformers up to 315 MVA and 400 kV.
- Strong experience in:
- Quality Planning
- Incoming Material Inspection
- Stage/Process Inspection
- Supplier Quality Management
- Customer Inspection & Witness Points
- NCR / RCA / CAPA
- Transformer Testing & Final QA Release
- QAP / ITP / Quality Documentation
- Calibration & Traceability
- Customer Complaints & Quality Improvement
- ISO 9001:2015 Audits
- Experience in handling large Power Transformer projects, customer inspections and cross-functional technical teams will be preferred.
- SAP knowledge is preferred.
