Registration Specialist
Location: Methodist Professional Center (Onsite)
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Parking: Free parking available in Garage 3
Position Summary
The Registration Specialist plays a critical role in the success of the clinic by ensuring a smooth, accurate, and efficient patient registration process. This position maintains consistent patient flow for providers and works collaboratively with physicians, clinical staff, and fellow team members. Training is provided for the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system and all job‑specific responsibilities, with optional opportunities to pursue Registration Certification for professional growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, and visitors
- Check in patients and schedule appointments accurately and efficiently
- Verify insurance coverage and work assigned registration task queues
- Facilitate patient flow from point of entry through destination in a timely, accurate, and professional manner
- Obtain, verify, and update demographic and financial information to ensure accurate records and optimal reimbursement
- Interview patients to obtain appropriate medical information
- Explain charges, policies, and departmental procedures clearly and professionally
- Validate, enter, and process charges; collect required payments
- Answer incoming calls and appropriately direct patients and visitors

Training & Onboarding
Onboarding includes a structured training experience with ongoing support:
- Required registration training classes
- Insurance training, including proper coverage loading
- EMR and scheduling system training
- Shadowing experienced Registration Team Members
- Hands‑on practice with continued guidance and support
Performance Benchmarks
- 3 Months: General understanding of EMR, clinic workflows, insurance practices, and provider schedules with trainer assistance as needed
- 6 Months: Working knowledge of EMR, clinic processes, insurance practices, and provider schedules with minimal assistance
- 12 Months: Advanced understanding of EMR, clinic operations, insurance practices, and provider schedules; ability to work independently

Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Preferred:
- Previous experience in a healthcare or clinical setting
- Ability to learn and retain medical coding concepts
- Knowledge of ICD‑10 and CPT coding
- Ability to interpret insurance information
- Familiarity with clinical practices and medical terminology
