The intern will work on designing and implementing improvements to stormwater systems and organizing compliance documentation, contributing to the company's commitment to sustainability and responsible development. Responsibilities: - Dive into real projects from day one with clear responsibilities and impactful tasks - Receive guidance and formal training from passionate professionals and your dedicated manager - Engage with senior leadership and gain invaluable insights into the industry - Enjoy a work culture that values every individual, promotes agility, and supports work/life balance - Successfully complete your internship and university graduation to gain priority for full-time opportunities at Imerys - The scope of the project is three fold: 1) design and implement best practice outfall discharge points that are safe and functional for stormwater and NPDES outfall sampling; 2) Evaluate the current stormwater systems and design improvements to the systems that best support minimal water discharge from site; and 3) to organize and digitize the supporting documentation for compliance activities occurring onsite - The project will involve detailed evaluations, analysis, design, and execution to generate best practice changes, both short and long term, to current stormwater and NPDES discharge systems that improve water quality - The intern will also be reviewing and organizing permit related tools to be familiar with their requirements - The environmental task documentation that is happening onsite are currently being stored in hard copy at the sites - The intern will organize and digitize the hard copies stored onsite, identify any gaps in documentation, and improve any recording documents that promote a clear and concise report eliminating any redundancies found - The project will also involve working with the sites on ongoing projects to evaluate, modify, and design improvements to the current best management practices (BMPs) - Learn how design and implementation impact systems - Learn practical and design applications including modifications that establish proof of concept - Learn time management to meet short and long term objectives - Learn what permits a typical industrial site holds - Learn what environmental tasks are required at typical industrial sites - Identify gaps in current record keeping procedures - Learn what best management practices (BMPs) are and why they are important - Learn how to evaluate and improve upon current BMPs that are in place Required Qualifications: - Pursuing a degree in: Relevant field, e.g., Environmental, Biology, Chemistry, etc - Strong oral and written communication skills - Problem Solvers: Enjoy collaborating to tackle challenges - Leaders: Demonstrate leadership in various settings, such as school clubs, sports teams, or work projects - Authorized to Work in the U.S - Able to pass a drug screen and background check Required Skills: Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry Important Skills: Project Management Nice-to-Have Skills: Communication Skills, Problem Solving, Leadership Benefits: Relocation Support: Assistance to help you where you need to go., Competitive Wages: Attractive compensation for your valuable contributions.
