Summary: Coherent is a global leader in lasers and engineered materials, and they are seeking an intern to assist with manufacturing automation and application development. The intern will gain real-world software engineering experience while collaborating in small teams to identify project opportunities and implement solutions. Responsibilities: - Become familiar with the manufacturing and automation initiatives and challenges across the site and collaboratively identify project opportunities best aligned to skills - Research methods to execute on project and propose solutions with recommendation on path forward - Develop, trial, and implement pilot program and/or deployment to manufacturing - Present findings or results with recommended path forward Required Qualifications: - Computer Science/Network Engineering, Engineering, or Mathematics major - Ability to work creatively in multi-disciplinary teams and strive for innovative solutions - Experience programming in some combination of C#, .NET, Python, JavaScript, LabView, and/or Unity a must - SQL or database experience a plus - Strong analytical and mathematics skills a major plus - Citizen or permanent resident Required Skills: C#, .NET, Python, JavaScript Important Skills: SQL, LabView, Unity Nice-to-Have Skills: Analytical skills, Mathematics skills Benefits: Practical experience in emerging technical fields, Collaborating with skilled teams of software engineers, Shadowing, mentoring, and training opportunities with seasoned professionals, Experience and training in small-project management and execution
