Job Description
Summary: II-VI Aerospace & Defense is a global leader in lasers and engineered materials. They are seeking an Intern for Failure Analysis to assist in automating testing processes and performing failure verification on optical transceivers.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and refine Python scripts to automate failure verification test processes
- Improve test efficiency by creating tools for data parsing, reporting, and workflow standardization
- Document code, test procedures, and results to ensure maintainability and repeatability
- Perform basic failure verification testing on optical transceivers, including electrical and optical performance checks
- Assist engineers in root‑cause identification by collecting test data, performing preliminary analysis, and summarizing findings
- Operate lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, optical power meters, BERTs, and temperature chambers (training provided)
- Maintain accurate logs of failures, test results, and observations
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Optical Engineering, or a related field
- Basic proficiency with Python (e.g., scripting, data manipulation, hardware communication)
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to follow test procedures and document results clearly
