Job Description
Summary: IFF is a global leader in flavors, fragrances, food ingredients, and health & biosciences. The Bioscience Summer Intern will conduct research in microbial strain construction and protein engineering, applying high-throughput screening techniques and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to drive scientific progress.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct research projects in areas such as microbial strain construction and protein engineering
- Apply high-throughput screening techniques to accelerate discovery
- Work with cell culture systems to support experimental workflows
- Explore biocatalysis and crystallography for innovative solutions
- Develop analytical methods, including mass spectrometry
- Participate in fermentation and bioprocess development and optimization
- Evaluate formulation materials and processes for improved performance
- Document experimental results, analyze data, and present findings
- Collaborate across interdisciplinary teams to drive scientific progress
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, or a related field
- Completion of at least sophomore year and continuing education in the Fall
- Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques in relevant areas
- Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary scientific setting
- Strong initiative and ability to thrive in a team environment
- Exceptional skills for bench-top experimental work and use of analytical instrumentation
- Competence in documenting results, analyzing data, and communicating conclusions
- Detail-oriented and committed to high-quality work
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated creativity in problem-solving and experimental design
- Experience with advanced analytical tools or specialized techniques
- Strong communication and presentation skills
