Job Description
Summary: Hy-Vee, Inc. is a company that values its workforce and is committed to supporting customers. They are seeking a Retail Pharmacy Intern who will provide efficient customer service and assist in filling prescriptions under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.
Responsibilities:
- Fills and helps process prescriptions
- Provides prompt and efficient service
- Assists with inventory control, maintaining inventory levels by ordering and stocking merchandise, checking invoices, and entering inventory information into the computer
- Works with co-workers as a team to ensure strict adherence to standard operating procedures and facility policies
- Prepares prescriptions
- Reports any medication errors to appropriate personnel
- Prepares and affixes labels to prescription containers
- Assists in training employees
- Assists with monthly inventory
- Follows security and regulatory procedures including Quality Assurance Programs
- Maintains cleanliness of pharmacy and dispensing area
- Maintains a professional appearance
- Adheres to company policies
- Reports to work when scheduled and on time
- Assists in other areas of the store as needed
- Performs other job related duties and special projects as required
Required Qualifications:
- Must be 18+
- Six months or less of similar or related work experience
- Enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy and registered with State Pharmacy Board as an intern
- Must have the ability to do logical or scientific thinking to solve problems; several abstract and concrete variables
- Must be able to compose original correspondence; follow technical manuals; have increased contact with people; interview counsel or advise people; evaluate technical data
- Have the ability to do arithmetic calculations involving arithmetic, algebraic and geometric calculations
- Must be able to physically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects
- Visual requirements include clarity of vision at distances of more than 20 inches and less than 20 feet, and field of vision
- The following physical activity is necessary to perform this job: Fingering, grasping, feeling, repetitive motions, talking, hearing, lifting, stooping, and reaching
- Frequent exposure to noise on a daily basis
- This position frequently involves a fast work pace in a retail store setting
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks (filling scripts, answering telephone, waiting on customers, etc.) every day
- There is an occasional exposure to dangerous chemicals/solvents
- Is fully responsible for company assets including prescription inventory, third party accounts receivable, pharmacy computer and software, and pharmacy fixtures
- Maintains the confidentiality of the customer's private medical information according to the HIPAA act
- Maintains the confidentiality of prescription drug pricing and costs
