Job Description
Summary: HOYA Vision Care is a global leader in optical technology dedicated to providing innovative vision care solutions. They are currently seeking a Patterns/Tracer Operator in Berea, OH, responsible for operating pattern tracing machines, inspecting frames, and ensuring quality standards are met throughout the tracing process.
Responsibilities:
- Operate pattern tracing machines to capture frame specifications and lens shapes
- Inspect frames for proper shape and trace all frame types (hide a bevel, grooved, drilled)
- Modify frame shapes and process paper tracings as needed
- Remove lenses from frames and sort components appropriately
- Calibrate tracing equipment and log machine readings daily
- Generate accurate plastic patterns for lens manufacturing
- Maintain organized workstation and notify supervisor of any equipment issues
- Ensure quality standards are met throughout the tracing process
- Will be cross trained to perform other lab duties as assigned and when needed
Required Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and precision in measurements and quality assessment
- Understanding of various eyewear frame types (hide a bevel, grooved, drilled) and construction
- Ability to work with various frame styles, materials, and paper tracings
- Quality control mindset with ability to identify frame defects and irregularities
- Organizational skills for parts sorting and workstation maintenance
- Communication skills for reporting issues and machine performance to supervisors
- Data logging and record-keeping abilities
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Technical proficiency with tracing equipment and machinery, including calibration procedures
- Ability to stand, walk, and use hands for extended periods
- Frequent reaching, bending, and occasional sitting
- Lift up to 25 pounds regularly
- Close vision and focus adjustment abilities required
- Understanding of workplace safety programs
- Closed toe shoes and safety glasses when required
- Safe tool handling practices
- Moderate noise work environment
