The Automation Engineer Intern will assist the Automation teams in identifying and sustaining manufacturing technology at the Whitehall Casting Operation, providing hands-on training and project experience throughout the summer internship program. Responsibilities: - The Automation Engineer Intern will be located in our Plant 3, Whitehall Casting Operation in Whitehall, MI - We are seeking a highly motivated and energetic student to join our Plant 3 team - This position will assist our Automation teams in identifying new manufacturing technology and sustaining current technology in use at the operation - The 2026 Summer Internship Program consists of 10-14 weeks of structured hands-on training involving plant tours, lunch & learn seminars, fun networking events to connect with fellow interns, and projects selected to add direct value to the business - At the conclusion of the program, each intern will present their projects to plant managers, supervisors, and mentors - An internship at Howmet Aerospace will provide an invaluable experience that you can utilize in any role, and it’s Howmet's goal to evaluate our interns for potential entry-level openings Required Qualifications: - Candidate must be pursuing a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution - Minimum completion of Sophomore level coursework from an accredited institution (by May 2026) - Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.
