Parent Tutor-HIPPY Program (Multiple Positions) at Houston… · Houston

Responsibilities

1. Meets with assigned families each week for instruction of the HIPPY curriculum through role playing, at families' homes and at school when needed.
2. Participates in staff development as required by HIPPY USA, TEXAS HIPPY, AMERICORP, DFPS and HISD for personal and professional growth.
3. Attends mandatory weekly in-service training of the HIPPY curriculum and other staff development activities.
4. Creates outreach materials and rosters; completes light clerical duties.
5. Assists in the supervision of children after monthly parent meetings as assigned by the coordinators. Participates in all regular HIPPY sponsored activities (i.e. Field trips, End of Year celebrations, TEXAS HIPPY Kick Off).
6. Meets with coordinators on a weekly basis for training, reports family progress and parent participation in the schools.
7. Implements recorded video summaries for 4 HIPPY ages (2-3-4-5) in English and Spanish.
8. Emails family curriculum, links to YouTube, links to books and samples of activities.
9. Confirms time and conducts virtual weekly check-ins with families, coordinator and manager.
10. Prepares weekly home visit log spreadsheet.
11. Conducts virtual assessments and connects families to needed referrals.
12. Recruits families to empower parents as child's first teacher.
13. Parent Tutors will preferably enroll as AMERICORP members upon employment and fulfill service hours following federal guidelines until ending AMERICORP member service at the HIPPY Site at the end of the four-year term.
14. Other duties as assigned.
