Summary:
Hitachi Particle Engineering and Services, Inc. is looking for an experienced Maintenance Service Technician II to provide service and maintenance for the Proton Beam Therapy (PBT) System, which is used for treating cancer at The University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics, in Madison, and the associated support systems as assigned.
The Maintenance Service Technician II will be responsible for preventative and corrective maintenances as well as troubleshooting. The Maintenance Service Technician II will work as part of the team to ensure compliance of technical and mechanical programs such as; worker safety, spare parts program, tool management, equipment tagging, facility procedure compliance, administrative procedure compliance, office equipment and systems by following all necessary procedures, protocols and guidelines.
Responsibilities (up to but not limited to)
• Monitor and provide support to positively affect operational performance and patient experience.
• Respond to service support calls within a timely manner during working hours.
• Interface with customers to ensure maximum customer satisfaction.
• Work in compliance with all regulatory standards including but not limited to, HIPPA, EH&S, FDA, OSHA, Radiation Safety, and Hitachi internal policies.
• Work with team members to schedule PM maintenance to minimize part costs and maximize efficiency.
• Maintain an understating of proper PBT system specific vocabulary and awareness for effective communication and problem resolution.
• Capable of performing all PBT system PM’s (Daily, weekly’s, monthly’s, Semi-Annuals, & Annuals) and corresponding documents (PM, CM, work orders, IAF’s) in detailed and orderly fashion.
• Capable of proper Laser Tracker utilization for data acquisition.
• Ability to schedule and replace vacuum components (rough pumps, TMP’s and vacuum gauges) along with proper use of the vacuum leak detector to ensure PBT system is properly sealed from atmosphere and maintain vacuum levels.
• Be able to perform proper X-ray tube replacement, alignment of 2mm sphere to isocenter, tube/FPD calibration, crosshair alignment confirmation and radiation isocenter measurement.
• Ability to guide and mentor maintenance technician I personnel
• Inspect and test incoming/outgoing materials and participate in shipment preparations.
• Create and incorporate newly written procedures under the senior technician, engineering and managements guidance.
• Troubleshooting and problem solving complex PBT system issue to support system up-time under the senior technician, engineering and managements direction.
• Create and maintain 6S practices (Safety, Sort, Store, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) under managements direction.
• Help maintain inventory control of all necessary supplies and chemicals with adherence to chemical safety and storage regulations.
• Safely work in areas with high voltage and utilize proper LOTO (lock-out, Tag-out) safety practices.
Qualifications:
• Ability to read and interpret engineering documents (Schematics, wiring diagrams etc.)
• Ability to utilize measurement instruments (Oscilloscopes, Multi-meters, Leak detectors, etc.)
• Safely lift up-to 50 pounds repeatedly and work in elevated areas with safety harness
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Safely work in areas of mechanical, electrical, high voltage and radiation.
• Work a compressed work week as part of a cross-functional team.
• Flexibility to cover rotating shifts and availability to work overtime as needed.
Education:
• High School Graduate or GED (Required)
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Robotic, Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Medical Physics/Accelerator, Nuclear or Radiation Physics (preferred)
• Graduate of Trade School or 3 years with Electrical/Robotic/Mechanical/Electronic experience preferred.
