Job Description
Summary: Hermeus is a venture-backed defense aviation company focused on rapid iterative prototyping to create the fastest aircraft. They are seeking talented students for their Manufacturing Engineering team to support initiatives in expanding in-house manufacturing capabilities and contribute to design, building, and testing of flight and ground support hardware.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate designs for manufacturability and testing, providing feedback to design team
- Design and implement tooling and test solutions where appropriate, to support component build and delivery
- Develop new processes and procedures to support flight hardware builds
- Manage projects and execute to tight timelines while effectively and proactively communicating with stakeholders
- Provide data-driven solutions to technical issues encountered during build
- Actively interface with technician and engineering teams to resolve product non-conformances and keep build on schedule
- Develop and refine floor layouts
- Support capacity modelling and time studies to identify and prioritize opportunities for process improvement
- Collaborate with other engineers, subject matter experts, and technicians to solve large-scale and widespread production challenges
Required Qualifications:
- Practical experience designing, building, and testing vehicles through internships, studies or projects
- Must be currently enrolled in a STEM program at an accredited college or university (undergraduate student in your third or fourth year of study, or enrolled in a Master's or Ph.D. program)
- Strong interest in vehicle hardware
- Strong understanding of engineering first principles
- Demonstrated ability to work within cross-functional teams
- Enthusiasm for aviation and Hermeus's mission
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- GPA of 3.0 or above
