Hendler Family Brewing Company (the team behind Jack's Abby, Wormtown, and Night Shift) is looking for a motivated Co-Op to join our Data team. This is a hands-on opportunity to do real software engineering work inside a working brewery: you'll ship bug fixes and new features to internal applications used daily by our production, taproom, marketing, sales, and operations teams, write SQL in our ERP to answer real business questions, and help keep the company's hardware and systems running.
You'll work in a modern, AI-assisted development environment within the context of a large-scale industrial brewery. We use AI coding tools (including Claude Code) as a core part of our workflow, and you'll learn to build, debug, and analyze with them from day one. This role is ideal for a student who wants to see how software, data, and IT come together to run a real manufacturing business and who wants their code shipping within the first few weeks.
Essential Duties:
- Develop and maintain internal web applications fullstack (React, TypeScript, SQL/PostgreSQL): fix bugs, build new features, and improve existing modules used across production, taproom, marketing, and legal compliance workflows
- Write and maintain SQL queries and reports within our SAP Business One ERP to support data analysis and business reporting
- Perform data analysis to support decisions in production, inventory management, and sales
- Support IT operations: set up and configure computers for new hires, image and redeploy machines, and troubleshoot hardware and software issues
- Assist with the company help desk including triaging bug reports, feature requests, and data requests from users across the company
- Use AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code and similar) to accelerate development, debugging, and analysis
- Document your work: code changes, queries, hardware deployments, and support resolutions
Job Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program in Computer Science or a related field
- Working knowledge of JavaScript and SQL required
- Basic knowledge of ERP, MRP, and CRMs vocabulary preferred
- Familiarity with AI tools and AI-assisted development; experience with Claude Code preferred
- Knowledge of computer hardware, setup, and troubleshooting
- Fundamental understanding of manufacturing or production systems
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical users
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently on hybrid/remote days and manage recurring deadlines
- Experience with Google Workspace
- Knowledge of the craft beer industry, brewing methods, and manufacturing practices is a plus
What You'll Learn:
- Full-stack development on a production application (React, TypeScript, PostgreSQL)
- ERP data engineering with SAP Business One on HANA
- AI-assisted software development workflows
- IT asset management and deployment in a multi-site company
- How software and data support a real manufacturing and hospitality business

PROUDLY INDEPENDENT AND FAMILY OWNED
The story of Hendler Family Brewing Company is rooted in family values, entrepreneurial spirit, and a strong commitment to craft and community. Brothers Jack, Eric, and Sam Hendler continue a decades-old legacy that began in the 1950’s, when their grandfather, Richard Hendler, founded the Saxony Ice Company in New York. Their first jobs were alongside their father, Paul, and uncle, Jeff, who carried on the family business.
Guided by these values, Hendler Family Brewing Company has grown from Jack’s Abby Craft Lagers into a flourishing family business. Beyond brewing, the company continues to invest in its people and community by offering diverse career opportunities, providing nearly 300 jobs across five permanent locations in Massachusetts.

Night Shift Brewing Company
In a Somerville, MA apartment in 2007, when 3 friends began homebrewing beer for friends and family. Their hobby took place after work, often stretching late into the night - what they called their “night shift.” Driven by a passion to craft more interesting and flavorful beers than the commercial options available, they turned that hobby into something bigger. In 2012, Night Shift Brewing officially launched in a small Everett warehouse, setting the foundation for what would become a thriving independent brewery.
Today, Night Shift Brewing continues to grow, fueled by the same commitment to creativity, quality, and community. With a dedicated team of hardworking staff, the company operates a taproom and brewery in Everett, a restaurant and brewery at Lovejoy Wharf in Boston, and a handful of seasonal Owl’s Nest beer gardens. Its portfolio of beverages can be found across the Northeast and beyond. Night Shift Brewing remains focused on three core values—inclusivity, innovation, and ingenuity—while embracing the mantra “all styles welcome.” We invite anyone and everyone to join us in welcoming all styles of beverages, people, and ideas. Welcome to the Night Shift.
Wormtown Brewery
Wormtown Brewery started in 2010 on Park Ave in Worcester, MA, transforming an old ice cream shop into a small brewery. From the beginning, the focus was on crafting great beer while staying true to its hometown roots. With strong support from the local community, new recipes were created and refined.
Then came Be Hoppy—a bold West Coast IPA released at the height of the Hazy New England IPA craze. It stood out from the pack and quickly became a fan favorite.
As word spread, so did the brewery. What started as a small Worcester operation grew into two taprooms and a brand recognized across New England. But no matter how far the beer travels, the mission remains the same: to craft high-quality beer that brings people together with a smile, one pint at a time.
Sloop Brewing Co.
Sloop Brewing Co. got its start in 2011, when two college friends began homebrewing in a Poughkeepsie garage and selling at local farmers' markets across the Hudson Valley. Early success led them to quit their day jobs and open the Barn, Sloop's first production space and tasting room, in a renovated Dutch post-and-beam barn in Elizaville, NY, before the brand grew into a new home in Dutchess County known as the Factory. Named for the single-masted sailboats that once carried goods and people up and down the Hudson River, Sloop Brewing Co. is focused on one thing: making high-quality, independently produced craft beer accessible for everyone, no gatekeeping required.
The Factory is still run by Sloop's original owners and serves as the brand's innovation hub. Since 2025, Hendler Family Brewing Company has partnered with Sloop, taking on some brewing, wholesale sales, and marketing to help grow the brand and carry the mission forward.
